The sense of touch:
an ability
known only to
the extremities
an under appreciated
and under developed reincarnation
of what it feels like
to know someone
to know touch
and grasp the sensation
is to know
the deepest feeling a body can feel
not superficial
but real
and in reality
with certainty
I'd take this feeling over any other
because of it's solidity
for you can't trust
any other sense
they will deceive you
manipulate you
and mock up
a world made by falsehoods
and in that world
we are are not real
we are a composite
reality
No, the only sense you can trust
is touch
for only touch
show's true decay

I actually really loved this one. It got me thinking, and that's what I love about you. You always have me thinking.
ReplyDeleteYou are seriously my insperation for writing. Austin, you're an amazing writer. Every song, every story, every poem I ever write from now on will be because of you.
and that's the truth. I just hope if you ever somehow see something I've written, you won't be disappointed or ashamed. I could never write as great as you, but I will always try.
this poem is the truth. Touch is the only sense that can't lie.
ReplyDeleteI have to dissagree. Touch isn't the only sense that can't lie. Sure, its the only sense that when put into place by two humans beigns can take you into a trance much deeeper than anything else. But there is something much more powerfull that can take you into a whole other dimension as to feeling somethign real.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is the sense of emotions. Feelings reminds us that we're all humans, and we can all get hurt. But it also shows us how deep of a connection can be made by two people. Emotions can get in the way of seeing clearly, and fool somebody, but it doesent mean we're being lied to.
Feeling and falling in love, once its the real thing, won't be superficial, will stay with the true certainty, and can drive a person to to crazy things. That is the deepest feeling a body can feel, because that is what wer're all searching for in the first place...
I love this poem...and i do believe that is the rawest, realest sense. (Emotion is not one of the senses). Its amazing the power of the "touch & feel" exchange, I actually wrote a lighter poem about touch myself:
ReplyDeleteTouch is a simple way to communicate.
Feeling is worth more than what words can't say.
Touch releases the pressure of the day.
And replaces the worries for "it's gonna be okay".
Touch is the medicine that heals the heart.
And is what hearts long for when they are far apart.
Touch can give hope, give courage and provide a way.
And as we travel miles in the wrong direction, touch and provide CHANGE.
